More-Pee

I am using the "MorePee" design from http://www.speakerbuilder.net/. With the change of using the RedOak Plywood instead of MDF...this should help with SAF (Spousal Approval Factor).  SpeakerBuilder.net no longer has the "MorePee" changes to the PeeCreek design posted. I have created a Google Zombie of the page (including images and graphs) here.

This project was fun. Being my second set of speakers ever built I think I did a not half bad job with these.

These are simply some of the best speakers I have heard to date. I like the sound of them even more than a set of B&M floorstander MTM's a friend has (even if they don't have the bass extension his B&M's do).

08-20-2003 (First Crossover wired up)

08-26-2003: Beginning the First Cabinet.

08-26-2003 (evening)

08-28-2003 (no pictures....I finished the first enclosure and it is ready for finishing (MinWax - Polyurethane). However I will be out of town at DragonCon over the weekend. Project to continue Monday evening or Tuesday.)

10-16-2003 (Sorry about the lack of Updates. Finished the first Pair and Damn do they sound good. (even if I still have to put grills on them still))

This is a picture of the current Home Theater (Yes I know I need a bigger TV....waiting for LCD's to come down in price a lot. It's currently a Sanyo 27".)

Here is the revised crossover. I learned a few things with the first couple....went back and fixed them. This is the crossover for the Center Channel I am currently in the process of finishing up. Note how all the Inductors are aligned differently....that is to minimize magnetic cross talk between them. I also changed over to using 14Gauge solid copper lines (Taken from Romex....it works very well and is cheap.)

Back of the Cabinet's Door. (Sealed using 8 screws and closed cell foam tape on the backside.)

Front of the cabinet. See how the top edge is joined using a 45' Angle. (Yes I know there is a small gap at the top...it's well sealed using RTV Silicone caulk). Woofer is held in using "T" nuts, Tweeter held in with screws. Interior is also currently having the  Acoustic Foam glued in place (using peices of spare foam to hold it in place while the 3M Type 77 glue dries....stinky stuff but it works).

Here is a closeup of the two finished speakers. (The center channel is not done in this picture still using the POS Magnavox HT-in-a-box speaker.) Sorry about picture quality....still need to get a better digicam.

10-20-2003 Swapped out the center channel.

Here is a shot from crouching below the entertainment center (to reduce lense flash glare).

Shot from center of room. (Yes the Subwoofer is up next so I can get rid of the POS temp sub....(frenken sub...old 8" Infinity driver and the 50W amp that came with the old speakers....it is not very well designed).)

Closeup of the Center channel.....the UPS and Wireless Keyboard receiver will be hidden once I get a chance to move the entire entertainment center out from the wall and can drop them down to somewhere else.
